Flashing Strip is a self-adhesive bituminous sealing strip which bonds instantly to provide a permanent watertight seal. Uses: Bonds to most building materials including masonry, brick, concrete, wood, slates, metal, concrete roof tiles, glass, plastic and roofing felt. Flashing Strip is used for the following:- Repairing lead flashing, sealing valley gutters, repairing leaks in guttering and drain pipes, protecting insulation for pipes and tanks, repairs to greenhouses, repairing roofing felt joints. Characteristics/Performance Data: Colour Grey Form Resin modified bituminous mastic in roll form, Adhesive surface is protected by a removable backing. Composition Resin modified bituminous mass Solids Content 100% Weight 1.6kg per square metre Temperature Resistance -10 to + 100ºC Tensile Strength 1.6N/mm² Application Temperature +5ºC - +30ºC Preparation: Surfaces must be clean and free from dust, grease, loose materials and ponding water. Gaps greater than 3mm should be filled using an appropriate filler. For adhesion on porous or uneven surfaces, the use of a primer is advised at a rate of 1.8m² per litre and allowed to dry. Do not leave the primer for more than 24 hours and therefore only coat an area enough for covering within the day. Some surfaces may require a second coat of primer which should be applied once the first coat is dry. Application: Cut the Flashing Strip to the length required. To avoid any creasing remove approximately 50mm of backing paper and carefully position the sealing strip, hold the backing paper firmly and remove it steadily from the sealing strip as the product is applied. Smooth into position using hand pressure. Using a seam roller or rounded wood smooth to ensure good contact and expel any air, especially on overlaps and at the edges. When laying adjacent rolls Flashing Strip should be overlapped by a minimum of 25mm for a watertight seal. The seam must be pressed firmly with a hand roller paying particular attention at the point of overlap. In cold weather (5-15oC), application will be made easier by warming the surfaces and storing the Flashing Strip in a warm place prior to use. Do not apply in temperatures below 5oC
